How to talk about race

Friday, Oct 30, 2020

11:00am – 1:00pm

In the first of our Social Justice series, we are going to be addressing How to talk about Race. This session will cover basics about equity and privilege. In addition, we will spend much of the session on how to have difficult conversations. In the area of anti-racism and social justice work, there’s a desire to better understand how to address racial issues as a white person and equally, how to talk to white people about issues they are causing. During this webinar, participants will learn some ways of thinking and methods of talking that will leave them better prepared and confident in engaging in this work. Applicable scenarios for librarians including coworker and student relations will be used to enable participants to have practical skills in implementing what they learn at their library.
